This followed a letter by Governor Emmanuel to the House dated June 17, 2016 requesting the approval of the House for Akwa Ibom State Government to participate in the budget support facility recently approved by the FG for 36 states of the country. Gov Emmanuel Udom After deliberating on the letter at yesterday’s plenary presided by the Speaker, Mr. Onofiok Luke, the lawmakers agreed that approving the support facility request had become important considering the biting economic situation in the state and country at large. Some of them lamented the plight of their constituents especially pensioners and concluded that the support facility would go a long way to assist the state to meet the challenges faced as a result of drop in revenue accruing to it. Member representing Oruk Anam state constituency and Leader of the House , Mr Udoh Akpan, said “ For sometime now, it is clear to Akwa Ibom people and Nigerians that the economy of the country has nosedived.
